Sky UK to broadcast first Premier League Game in 3D

This year will be the year when 3D television will become mainstream. This was obvious from all the amount of 3D technology coming out in during CES 2010. For anyone who doesn’t know what CES it is a conference where all the biggest brands meet and show off their latest gizmos for the year. Everyone goes apart from a few who decide to organize their own conference.

A couple of 3D only channels have been announced in America but in Europe (Sky UK) are broadcasting their first 3D premier league game this weekend. Arsenal versus Manchester United. They are broadcasting the game in 9 different bars around the country. The fans who want to watch the game will be given special glasses. If they run out of glasses they will give the patrons a couple of stiff drinks allowing views to use their beer goggles and go without the embarrassment of the dreaded 3D glasses.

I don’t think the game between these two clubs is worthy of this special technology. It would have been more appropriate for some Chelsea game to be shown but I guess this will do. Watching football in 3D… tackles will never be the same. You can actually try save a penalty now too. Corners too would be cool too.

Sky UK won’t only be broadcasting football games they have plans of showing movies, television shows and also documentaries. But for all that is holy I hope no 3D version of X-Factor, Big Brother and other shows do not start broadcasting in 3D.

If you can think of better things to use 3D television for post a comment. Most guys would suddenly start thinking about porn after reading this…
